Halloween

In a secular world the true Church really stands out.  Just how abnormal is it that we don't go to Church on the day of the Sun?  Just how abnormal is it that we don't eat Catfish, or shrimp or pork or other unclean meats?  Pretty abnormal isn't it compared with the majority of mankind, including the majority of professing Christianity?

Why they think we are a bunch of oddballs.  Yes, when God called you and I out of this world to be a part of His Church, He called us to a different way of life from that of others.  We began walking a different path, one that was laid down from ancient times.  We began walking on the Old Paths.

Those of the worldly Churches are not very different and peculiar are they? They still observe most of the same days as those of the world, they still eat the same unclean meats as do most of the world, they have a disregard for the commandments of God as does most of the world.  Why they fit right in with the world.  Why?  Because they are still worldly!  They are not yet considered peculiar by the standard of God’s Word.

It has always amazed me how humans will do things, without thinking about the reason behind what it is that they are doing.  When asked about such things we might give an answer like "well everyone else is doing it," or "it is what we have always done," or "we must have our traditions!"

It's kind of like the  story of the Pied Piper.  We tend to follow the lead of others even if we don't know where they are leading us, just because we see everyone else following, we blindly follow along with them.  But do you know what my Bible says about these things?  I guarantee that your Bible says the same thing.

1st Peter 2:9  "But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that you should show forth the praises of him who has called you out of darkness into his marvelous light;"

God chooses certain individuals out of all the inhabitants of this world to be a peculiar people.  To be different from the rest of the world.  To be peculiar unto God makes you a very special person.  You are a valued possession of God, a precious jewel.  It means that you are going to be different, sometimes strange and unusual, sometimes even out of place among everyone else.  You may seem odd and abnormal compared to those of the world.

That means then that we as members of the Church of the living God will show forth characteristics that are so much different than those around us, that to them we would seem odd and strange and even weird.

We would not seem normal to them because of how we live and the things that we engage in.  We would seem unusual to them for not participating in the things that they do.  To be peculiar sets us apart from those of the world.

Brethren we see in this verse also that we are to praise God that He has called us out of darkness and into the light and made us to be peculiar.  Let's remember, as we continue with this message, that God has made us different and peculiar and that He called us out of darkness.

Being that my career field for well over 35 years at the time of this teaching has been in Parks and Recreation, I get to meet or observe many different kinds of people from all walks of life, different generations as well as different nationalities.  I’ve seen big bus loads come in, whether down in Texas to one of my big parks or the parks here in Indiana.  But it didn’t matter if on the side of that bus it said the University of ?? or the 1st Church of ??  If you or I didn’t see the logo on the side of the bus, we couldn’t tell one from the other.

It is unfortunate that those who are associating themselves with the Christ don’t have a clue that they are also associating themselves with this old world at the same time.  They look like the world, they dress like the world, they eat like the world, they talk like the world, they listen to the music of the world, they observe the same heathen holidays of the world and on and on we could go.

Why do they do such things?  It is because they are yet worldly.  They are not called of God to be a peculiar people that will stand out like a sore thumb from everyone else.  They have yet to be called out of darkness and into the light.

1st John 4:5,6  “They are of the world:  therefore speak they of the world, and the world hears them.  We are of God:  He that knows God hears us;  He that is not of God hears not us.  Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.”

If an individual knows God, they will listen to what we have to say about our peculiar life.  They have been given ears to hear and they will listen or understand the truth.  But those of the world, even the worldly Churches cannot yet hear us, because they don’t yet know God.  They speak or act like the world, therefore the world hears them and they the world.  But they don’t speak or act like the Church of God is to act, therefore we can know the difference between the spirit of truth and the spirit of error.

That statement tells me then that there is much error out there in the world.  Now they may say that they know God or they may even call themselves Christians and we are so often tempted as well to consider them as brethren, but that is not what my Bible tells me.  This next text of scriptures is really what made the difference in my life and forced me to make some decisions and stop being a fence sitter with what I believed.  I had to make a choice.

1st John 2:3-5  “And hereby we do know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments.  He that says, I know Him, and keeps not His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in Him.  but whoso keeps His word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in Him.”

Wow!  You know I’m certainly glad that John wrote those words and not me.  That has got to be one of the strongest statements written in our Bibles.  That statement convicted me to my very core many years ago and I suddenly realized that I was a liar and the truth was not in me at that time.

If a person were to say, I know Jesus!  I’m a Christian!  I’ve been saved!  I’m born again!  But if after a time repentance has not shown itself in their lives, and God will give us time for repentance, but a time comes when He expects a change in our lifestyles.  But if we, after that time show forth that we still will not keep His commandments and yet all along still claim to be a Christian, John says here while under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit that we are liars and the truth is not in us.

Our God expects a change to take place in our lifestyles after a period of time for to repent.  If that change takes place, the world will not hear nor understand us from that point forward.  We are abnormal and so different and strange to them.  They will keep their distance since we seem so odd and peculiar to them.  Why?  Because they are of the world and we have been called out of the darkness and into the light.

1st John 2:15-17  “Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world; If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.  For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.  And the world passes away, and the lust thereof; but he that does the will of God abides forever.”

So according to this we are not to love the world.  Now this is not talking about having a love for human kind.  For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son, that whosoever believes on Him should not perish by have everlasting life.  No this is speaking about engaging in worldly things to the point that you and I are not peculiar or different than those of the world are.  But if we love the things of this world, begin looking and acting and speaking and eating and observing the heathen days of this world and so forth and so on, then this will show that the love of the Father is not in us.

Can we say we be a friend with God and yet be a friend with the world also?  We are about to read some strong words spoken through the Apostle James by the Spirit of God.  What we are about to read will most assuredly cause us to refrain from loving the ways of the world.

James 4:4  "You adulterers and adulteresses, (and by the way you and I can become an adulterer without ever having a sexual encounter with the husband or wife of another.  We can commit spiritual adultery.  We are in essence being married unto God.  But if we go out whoring around with the things of the world,  it is as though we are committing adultery against our God by not remaining true and faithful unto Him) "You adulterers and adulteresses, know you not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God."

So if you or I or anyone, are friends with the world, we are an enemy of God.  Wow!  Knowing the might and the power and the greatness of our God, would you really want to be a friend of the world and an enemy of God?  To be a friend of the world, means that you have the same feelings, the same intentions, the same thoughts, the same morals and desires and wants of the world.  To be a friend with the world means that you are friendly to the world and the world to you.  If we are friends with the world, then those of the world will not look upon us as being different or peculiar.  No, we would be like the world with the same desires.

But to be a friend of God would mean then that we have the same desires that God has, the same intentions, the same characteristics, the same morals, the same wants, we keep His commandments, we observe His days and not the worlds, we begin to speak like God,  live like God, dress godly, and eat the things that God would eat.

Now if we are friends with the world and that makes us an enemy of God, what happens to those who are declared as His enemies?

Nahum 1:2 “God is jealous, and the Lord revenges; the Lord revenges, and is furious; the Lord will take vengeance on his adversaries, and he reserves wrath for his enemies.”

The Lord God is jealous over the Church.  We are very much in a marriage relationship with the Lord.  He is very jealous over us.  But if we or anyone would become an enemy of God by loving the things of the world and becoming friends with the world, we have just read here in Nahum that the Lord our God reserves wrath for His enemies.

God has set a reservation in the name of His enemies with a day of wrath.  Brethren, you and I don’t want to be an enemy of God.  We don’t want to be a friend of the world, but rather as was Abraham of our Bibles, our desire should be to be a friend with God Himself.

It is like the little saying that has been going around for a number of years.  “What would Jesus do?”  I don’t think that most of those who have adhered to that little saying really comprehend what it would really mean in their lives if they began doing what Jesus would be doing.

We are about to read six little words that have an intense meaning for what takes place at the end of the month of October.  We need to allow God's Spirit to make these six words to sink down deep within us.

If we take it to heart what we are about to read as the Apostle Paul was writing this letter while being influenced by the Spirit of God, we will forever understand the threat to our souls as the last day of October and the 1st day of November rolls around each year.

1st Thessalonians 5:22  "Abstain from all appearance of evil."

We are to abstain from all appearance of evil.  Even things that appear to be evil, we are to abstain from having anything to do with it.  We are to avoid it.  That is what the word "abstain" means.  To have nothing to do with something.  We are not to have anything to do with something that not only is evil, but even appears to be evil.  But to you and I, it also means that whenever evil appears on the scene, we as the Church are to have nothing to do with it.  As we'll see shortly, we as the Church are to stand against evil when it does appear.

So what is an example of something that appears to be evil and yet is observed as a custom and a tradition once a year?  How about the day known to us as Halloween?  Doesn't it have an appearance of evil about it?  Oh, but it is much more than just an appearance as we'll see shortly.

Halloween, which occurs on the last day of the month of October, followed by what is called All Saints Day on November the 1st, has become a tradition pretty much world wide.  It is clearly marked on man’s calendar.

Well in advance and prior to the day, the stores begin putting up their displays with goulash and sometimes even demonic costumes and décor in anticipation for the public to spend their money and engage in a non-biblical Holiday.  The term Holiday is just to combination of the two words, Holy and Day.  But can you find any way in which Halloween could actually be considered a Holy day?  It is a tradition based upon evil and wickedness that mankind and even many churches take part in.  No matter what we have taught our children about goodly morals seems to be abandoned and they are allowed to pull pranks and tricks and be involved in mischievous activities to the honor of wickedness, not godliness.

But what is Halloween?  Where did it originate?  Can a Christian engage in it?  What does Halloween mean?  Is it just an innocent time of fun for children?  Is it just a fun time for the family to wonder the streets and knock on doors and ask for candy?  Where does the meaning of Trick or Treat come from?  How about Jack-O-Lanterns?  Should we as Christians carve pumpkins and light a candle from within and display them on our front porches and yards on Halloween?  What do these things mean?

I have found over the years that most people, including those who consider themselves as Christians don't have the slightest idea of what these things mean.  They just blindly engage in something that they have no idea of what it is that they are doing.

You know it has been many years now since I have observed Christmas, New Years day, Valentines day, Easter or Sunday and other such traditions of men.  And it has been more years than these since I have observed Halloween.

I have spoken against these days since the 1980’s, and probably knew of the error of some of these days for many more years than that.  It just took me that long to have the boldness about me to speak our with my mouth what my heart was being told by God's Spirit.

But I have always thought about the observance of these days by the professing Church world, which I call the worldly Churches, because that is what they are.  They are worldly.  They are friends with the world.  I could understand how that through the blindness of their hearts how that an individual could be deceived into observing some of these days.  But I find it hard put to understand how Christians could possibly observe Halloween.

I mean some of the other false holidays of the world, are candy coated with Biblical stories to make them seem Christian, but Halloween is blatantly outright evil and full of wickedness without hiding it's intentions.  To not have knowledge of the origins of Halloween is not an excuse for the Christian community to still engage in something that is giving glory and honor to Satan the devil, demons, witchcraft, monsters, zombies and other such things.

Halloween does not give glory unto God.  But instead steals away His glory and rather gives glory unto the prince of darkness who is Satan the devil, and remember the Church has been called out of darkness and into the marvelous light of God.  If you claim to be Christian you should not dabble in the ways of darkness.

But every Halloween children dress up in their costumes and wonder the streets of the neighborhoods, going door to door, sometimes playing pranks on our homes and vehicles and with the approval and sometimes with the help of their parents.  They are willingly ignorant that Halloween has been an evening dedicated for over a millennium to the worship and the service of Satan the devil.

Halloween has nothing to do with Christianity.  We need to know the origins of Halloween and it's dangers.  During the dark ages, a number of pagan customs were adopted by the newly so called Church of Rome.  There were many things that took place during the dark ages that has set the stage for where we are today.  Only the priests had access to the Scriptures since they banned the ownership of bibles by the common man.  This gave the Church the opportunity to change the Truth and the common man for the most part had no idea that they were being deceived since they didn’t have the biblical scriptural standard in order to be able to know the truth of these things.

Now remember we have been called out of darkness and into the light.  The dark ages was like a veil over the Truth of God, and once we came over onto the others side and the veil was removed, Christianity was a different religion than what it was during the days of the Apostles.  It was during the days of darkness wherein the light of God's word was being hidden that Satan pulled off his deception that is still influencing mankind all the way down into our day.

It was through what later on became the Catholic Church which was Romanish in nature, meaning that it had the characteristics of pagan Rome, that most of the pagan traditions now being observed by modern day Christianity was amalgamated and became Christianized.  Although we know that these pagan customs were just repackaged and dressed up with Biblical stories and terms in order to hide the heathen customs that was at their origins.

One of these days was originally called the "devil's night".  It was celebrated during the dark ages wherein it was said that during the night evil spirits came out into the streets and came to the homes of the people.  It was a celebrated as a Satanic festival.  The next day was called "all saints day" or "all hallows day”, but the night before was the eve of all hallows day.  This is not hidden information, it is easily found with a quick internet search or even research in most encyclopedias, especially the older ones before history was changed.

So we have All Hallows Day Eve, which became Hallows Day Eve, which became Hallows Eve, which became Halloween.  It is easy to see the evolution of the term.

So Halloween was the eve or the evening or night before what the Roman Church called All Saints Day, in which they gave honor to the dead saints.  So like the night before it, All Hallows Day was a day dedicated to honoring the dead.

The ancient Druids were priests that were essentially devil worshippers who held great power of the people.  They commanded that the people hold an annual festival to their Celtic sun god and the lord of the dead.  On that night, Satan was worshipped as the lord of the dead.  That day which coincides with our last day of October was called the festival of Samhain or summers ending.  But on that night, they believed that the dead came out of their graves and walked the streets, so they made offerings unto them and had their celebration in honor unto the dead.  The satanic priests told the people that if they failed to celebrate the dead that curses would come upon them and they might die and be reincarnated as animal like creatures.  Thus came the stories of vampires and werewolves and even possessed black cats.

There is a big spiritual movement going on even in our time that is catching on strongly, which entails the communication with the dead.  It is one of the most dangerous practices in society, for it invites the control of demons into a person's life.  We should have nothing to do with this form of spiritualism.  So we don’t involve ourselves with séances and Ouija boards and astrology and so forth which is an open invite for demonic oppression or even possession.

Brethren the dead are dead!  They are not in heaven or in hell, they know nothing, they are not out walking around haunting people.  No these are demon entities masquerading as ghosts.  When people see what they call ghosts and think they are communicated with a dead relatives, they are in actuality communicating with demons spirits!  I hear it all the time.  On the radio, on the TV, in magazines, on tabloids, in books, about all this talking to the dead stuff.  It is not biblical, it is demonic.

So the stage was already being set prior to Christianity moving into Europe.  Some of the Druid priests eventually became partially rehabilitated to the new religion of Christianity.  Since they were not true and complete converts to God’s ways, their Satanic practices and rituals came into the Church and became doctrine.

For centuries the night of what we now call Halloween was dedicated to the worship of devils.   The newly forming Church with the Druid priests (falsely claiming conversion) taking on leadership roles, they began commanding their satanic practices upon their followers.  So in essence it really wasn’t much different than before Christianity came into the region.  The difference was that Satan had joined the Church by merging pagan practices with God’s ways.  The priests still retained their influence and power over the people.

Soon Halloween, or Hallows Eve, which was originally a pagan festival, became the great Christian festival in the autumn of the year, replacing God's true Biblical Feast days that occur in September and October of each year.

This paganized Christian festival was filled with all kinds of celebrations.  The Druid priest would force the people to give them food and offerings when they would come knocking at their doors.  If the people would refuse, a curse was placed upon the home.  A carved out turnip or pumpkin was left on their doorstep. They believed that an evil spirit inhabited the carving and would bring a curse upon those who were dwelling in the house for not giving the priests what they desired.  So if the people would not give the Druids a treat, they would be tricked.

One of the names of Satan the devil was Jack.  So when they carved out the pumpkin and placed a lit candle within  and an evil spirit inhabited the carving, it was Jack in the lantern, which became Jack of the lantern, which was shortened to Jack-O-Lantern.  An evil spirit inhabiting a carved out pumpkin, bringing oppression upon those dwell in the house!  We don't want anything to do with a Jack-O-Lantern brethren.

These ancient people believed that on Halloween ghosts, spirits, fairies, witches, elves, and other such beings would harm people.  These evil beings must be pacified with offerings of food and gifts.  The priests went to the homes of the people and demanded these things to appease the evil spirits. The people also believed that witches flew on brooms that night and would cast down curses on the people who would not honor the dead.  The priests taught that black cats were very sacred.  This is why today, when we think of black cats, ghosts, skeletons, witches, skulls, carved out pumpkins and children running around with sheets over their heads, we think of Halloween.

To this day we see children dressing up as ghosts, and devils and witches and what do they do?  But go door to door knocking on the doors and what do they say?  But trick or treat!  In other words just hand me down traditions.  Give me something to eat or I'll play a trick you!  And thus we have the mischievous and sometimes malicious and at times even deadly pranks or tricks being pulled on people on or around Halloween.

After merging with Christianity in the dark ages, the Halloween spread through much of Europe, and then to America after we were colonized.  Most people have no idea of the origins of Halloween.  They just blindly follow along their traditions even if the scriptures condemn such behavior.

Should we today celebrate this pagan night, which every witch, wizard and spiritualist will tell you that it is the greatest night of the year to their beliefs.  It may seem just like a bunch of good old fashion fun and games.  Some may say after hearing information like this that it may be fine and well to know of what took place in the past, but that they don't worship the devil, and may say that they don't see anything wrong with it in our day.

Well don't forget that it is Satan's holiday. We should keep our children home that night.  As our children were growing up, I remember we used to go upstairs and put heavy blankets over the windows, so nobody would know that we were home.  We would have a family night while teaching them the truth of Halloween and the difference between God’s ways and that of Satan.

But brethren, we need to dedicate ourselves anew to the true and living God and shun the ways of the Devil.  We must abstain from the appearance of evil.  These things may seem inviting and it is normal human nature to want to fit in with people.  But to fit in and to compromise may make us friends of the world and thus enemies of God.  By taking part in pagan customs will only bring trouble, misery and confusion of mind and an empty life lacking true happiness.

I have heard sometime back that around the worldly holidays is when the greatest time of suicide takes place.  It shows the underlying unhappiness that is actually going on behind the scenes on and around these days.

I have also heard reports that the number of missing children and adults throughout the year that are never found, match what they estimate to be the number of needed sacrifices to the devil by the worshippers of Satan on Halloween.  If such reports are true, then they shed light on the evil darkness associated with Halloween.

I have read reports from true witches, not those who just play around with this stuff, but true witches who have great powers bestowed upon them by the devil himself.  They say that on the night of Halloween, their powers seem to be greatly enhanced.  That spells and curses that they might otherwise have trouble doing, seem to come easier on the night of All Hallows Eve.

It is probably due to all the honor and glory being given to Satan on that night by the other fallen angels and demons.  By the worshippers of Satan who are giving him honor.  Even if at times that honor is being given unto him through innocence, by individuals who should know better, or by their children who don't know better.  Nevertheless, it seems as if the powers of darkness feed off of what takes place on all hallows eve.

Most people don’t realize just how perilous it is to dabble with spiritualism.  It may seem innocent fun, but is it?  Some people will actually say that we are trying to take away the fun for the children.  My children have never observed Halloween.  Hopefully they will continue not observing it on into their adult life.  But let's see what the Word of God has to say about these things.

Deuteronomy 18:9-12  "When you are come into the land which the Lord your God gives you, you shall not learn to do after the abominations of those nations.  There shall not be found among you any one that makes his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that uses divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch.  Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer.  For all that do these things are an abomination unto the Lord: and because of these abominations the Lord your God does drive them out from before you."

Did you notice that this is talking about fortune telling, horoscopes, trying to communicate with the dead, etc.  These verses tells us up front that these things are an abomination unto God and we need to avoid them. You and I as followers of the Christ are to have nothing to do with such things.

One might say, we don't force our children to pass through the fire as they did as a sacrifice in these scriptures.  But when we encourage our children and others to participate in a Satanic holiday, we are in essence sacrificing them unto the devil spiritually as their minds are being subjected to anti Christ propaganda.

We are to avoid the things associated with what we read in Deuteronomy 18.  They are an abomination unto our God.  We must do all that is within our power to avoid associating ourselves with things that are based upon evil origins.  But more so, we are to stand against them.

Brethren there are wicked spirits out there who are trying to find ways to bring oppression upon individuals.  But it is a great symbol of honor unto these spirits when they can bring oppression upon a Christian.

Do you know that there are real vampires in the world?  I'm not just talking about people who drink blood.  I'm not even talking about creatures who are shape shifters who change into wolf or cat like creatures or beings who feed upon human blood or flesh and so forth.  Although I believe that behind any myth there is some truth to base the myth upon.

But I'm talking about unclean spirits who suck away our joy, our peace, our freedoms, our pursuits in life, our finances, our self-confidence, our courage, our boldness, our good memories, our sense of wellbeing, our health, our power of self-control, and our ability to make right judgments.

They are sucking away our love of life and our pursuit of happiness.  They drain us of our emotions and our will to keep on keeping on.  They fill us with misery and the give it all up attitude.  They fill us with oppressive thoughts that as a cancer eats away at us until we find ourselves so deep in the miry clay of despair, that we forget how to make contact with our God for our rescue.

They are out there and always trying to find some way to attach themselves to us.  We should be praying continually for one another for divine protection from what lurks in spiritual darkness.  Halloween is an avenue through which they can attach themselves to us.  And if they attach themselves to you and you bring it into the Church, you can bring them upon someone else unknowingly, especially if they don't have their spiritual armor on.

Why I even have bad thoughts about eating the candies that have been specifically prepared and wrapped for Halloween.  It is like eating foods sacrificed to the devil.  Maybe I'm being far to overly concerned about these things, but then again, maybe we are not being concerned enough if we only knew what is going on behind the scenes in the spirit realm as they plan a way to get at one or all of us.

Ephesians 5:1-16   Be you therefore followers of God, as dear children;

And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us, and has given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet smelling savor.  But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becomes saints; Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks.  For this you know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things comes the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.  Be not you therefore partakers with them................................

Brethren we are to avoid being partakers with those who are disobedient.  That disobedience is akin to being friends with the world, which makes us an enemy of God and brings on the wrath of God.

Continue with verse 8.......

For you were sometimes darkness, but now are you light in the Lord: walk as children of light:  (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;)

We were at one time in darkness, but now we are to walk as children of the light, not in darkness any longer.  Halloween has nothing to do with the fruit of the spirit.  It does not produce all goodness and righteousness and truth.  No it is the complete opposite.  It is dedicated to darkness.

Continue in verse 10....

Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord.  And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.  For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret.  But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever does make manifest is light...........

Church we are to prove what is acceptable unto the Lord.  Is Halloween acceptable unto the Lord?  I would think not knowing what is easily known about it's origins.  Mankind has done the complete opposite of what we were warned against back there in Deuteronomy and here in Ephesians.  He has learned how the heathen nations worshipped their false gods, therefore we in our day observe pagan holidays and traditions that are condemned in the scriptures.

Halloween is a day dedicated to evil and darkness and death.  These things are not acceptable unto our God.  Instead we are told to have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness. To have no fellowship means to have nothing to do with it at all.  Once again we are to abstain from all appearance of evil.

We are told here to reprove the works of darkness.  The word reprove means to uncover, to rebuke strongly, to reprimand harshly.  We are to take a stand against the works of darkness.  We are therefore should take a stand against Halloween.  It is a work of darkness.  We are not to have fellowship with anything that has to do with Halloween.  But instead, we are to reprove it and to reprove it strongly.

Why?  Because we are to be children of the light.  Whatever is reproved is made known by the light.

If we are the light of the Lord, as verse 8 tells us so, then we as that light must reprove the works of darkness.

Continue now with verse 14..........

Wherefore he says, Awake you that sleep, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give you light.  See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil."

Yes brothers and sisters the days are evil, and we must not waste a second of time, but rather redeem the time that we have in order to do the works of light.  There is so much more that could be said of this subject, but enough has been said to aid us in knowing the evil that takes place around the festivities surrounding the Halloween.  No we are to abstain from evil, even the appearance of evil. We are no longer in darkness, but we have been called out and delivered into the marvelous light of God's Word.

Brethren, we are told to praise God for being called out of darkness and into the light.  Therefore I say unto you all, Praise the Name of our God!
